COACB Board of Directors
In 1980 the Central Ohio
Association of Christian Broadcasters was organized for the purpose of spreading the
Gospel of Jesus Christ through the means of radio and television stations (see mission statement).
In 1988, it was granted
a license for W39AQ (WOCB-CA), Marion, Ohio. The station
signed on the air on June 14, 1989--with an effective radiated power of 560 watts.
What the station lacked in power, it made up for in enthusiasm. In 1992, the FCC
granted permission for the station to increase its power to 18,900 watts.
Plans for a new broadcast complex were drafted in 1995, and the complex was
completed in April 1996. This 9,000 sq. ft. facility houses the corporate offices
and main studios of the Central Ohio Association of Christian Broadcasters.
The organization purchased W56CA (WXCB-LP), Delaware, Ohio, in Febuary 1997. The two
stations are operated as sister stations, both broadcasting the Trinity Broadcasting
Network twenty-one hours a day.
In 1998 The COACB turned on WOCB-CA which was authorized as a special temporary
authority. This station continues to serve Kenton, Ohio. At the next
filing window, the COACB will file for a permanent license for this station, but
until a window becomes available, we will continue to operate it as a special
temporary authority.
The COACB purchased WGCT-CA in Columbus Ohio on January 19, 2006. It is
now making plans to maximize that station. WGCT will server over 1,000,000
people.
The organization is recognized
by the IRS as a type 501c3 organization and donations to it are tax deductible.
Donations are accepted to further the cause of spreading the gospel.
