TEARS FOR THE LOST
David Aiken

In 1975, the Lord gave me a vision for my community. He said look at the multitude of people that you meet daily and most of them never consider that they are destined to appear before my judgement seat. I fell on my face and wept bitterly pleading that he would give me a way to reach some of them. At that time cable systems were required to have public access channels and I learned that we could use that channel for $50.00 per hour but only if we could obtain the equipment needed to make and air the programs. In 1975 there was no such thing as an inexpensive video camera so the chance of obtaining the equipment was practically impossible.

I didn’t know that the Lord was going to supply the needed equipment in a most unusual way. CB radios were very popular in 1975 and J.C. Penny sold a large number of CBs. Some CBs had failed during warranty and had been exchanged for new radios. The defective radios were stored on a shelf in the store. I stopped one day to buy a part for my car and the store manager and I started talking about CB radios. He offered to sell all of his defective radios. I had spent my time in the military repairing two-way radios so I was confident I could repair the CBs and would probably make a nice profit from them.

When I started selling the repaired radios one buyer said he had a video camera and recorder that he wanted to trade for two radios. The Lord had honored my shed tears and had given me a way to reach my community with the Gospel. In July 1976 the Word of Truth Broadcast aired for the first time using this camera and recorder.

TV-48 STILL GOING STRONG

The adversary has worked really hard against TV-48 in Kenton this past month, but in the midst of discouragement we must remember that we have lost a battle, but we will win the war. Despite requests from cable customers, Kenton City Counsel, and other faithful viewers of TV-48, Time Warner removed Kenton’s only local station from their system. We are offering TV-48 club members a free UHF antenna so they can continue to receive TV-48. Antennas are also available to non-TV-48 club members at below retail cost. For more information, please contact the COACB at (740) 383-1794.

Greg Sens from Servex Electronics contacted the COACB offering his help in obtaining reasonable priced antennas for COACB viewers. By agreeing to take the Permacolor factory’s entire stock of a specific model of antenna he obtained a price that was well below wholesale.

Greg placed the order for antennas to be delivered on July 18 but by the time the order was processed the antennas had gone to another buyer. The factory has agreed to deliver the antennas at the price quoted and the first ones off the production line when Permacolor restarts their line on July 22 will be heading to Marion Ohio. They are expected to arrive on July 26. Antennas can be picked up at TV-39 in Marion, TV-56 in Delaware or TV-48 in Kenton or at the Servex store in Marion. Ask for the special COACB antennas.
