Corble Ratliff and Anna Roszman stuffing envelopes.
It takes a lot of effort to stuff 1,659 newsletters into envelopes and get them in the mail so we were well pleased when fifteen volunteers showed up to help with the January newsletter. In addition to Corble Ratliff and Anna Roszman, the volunteer crew consisted of Leo and Margaret Gilliam, Betty Syck, Kim and Dale Kranston, Jack Rutherford, Thelma Aiken, Louise McMillion, Ruth Hill, Violet Adkins, Terry Orlett, Art and Marlene Dodge.
WEB TV
David Aiken
In May, a wireless Internet connection was installed in the Marion facility; and in June, Delaware received its high speed ADSL Internet connection. Plans were then made to install a video on demand server at Delaware. Although the technical difficulties were much greater than anticipated, that new server is now on line.
Video with up to 120-Kb streams is now possible from that server. Compare this to the 20-Kb streams that were possible before. This server can be easily upgraded all the way to 1200-Kb streams. Many readers have already seen COACB video on the web, but higher bandwidth makes much better video viewing. Experiments by the COACB show that streams of 355-Kb and above produce near VCR quality and streams of 500-Kb are CATV quality.
Although most residential customers can not presently access streams higher than 56-Kb, things are changing very fast. ADSL, Cable Modems, Wireless Internet, and Satellite Internet Systems are being installed at staggering rates. Estimates are that within two years over ten million U.S. households will be able to access high speed Internet. Several broadcasters have started delivering their programs to the web in 255-Kb streams; with many more starting each month. For many, the Internet will very soon become a replacement for their current cable system.
COACB CLONE FOR NEPAL?
The COACB always stands ready to share its technology with other groups wanting to establish new Christian stations. It has already shared that technology with groups in Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia and Florida. Now a group called Gospel for Nepal wishes to use COACB technology to build a television station in Katmandu, Nepal.
Cost is a major consideration in a country where workers earn just $2.00 per day so Gospel for Nepal plans to use the WXCB-LP (Delaware, Ohio) as its model for Nepal. The G.F.N. Board made a trip to Marion on Jan. 16, 2001 to study COACB technology. When on the air, Channel 15 in Nepal, will establish two firsts: Not only will it be that nations first Christian station, but also the first non-government owned, TV station in that Hindu nation. A construction permit for the station has already been issued.
Dhan Lama a Christian missionary from Nepal is speaking in Ohio and Indiana Churches during the month of February. If you would like for him to speak at your church call (614) 478-9393 to schedule an appointment. Please pray for our fellow laborers in the Gospel.

SUPPORT A STATION
There are three plaques, one at TV-39, another at TV-56 and a third at TV-48. These list the names of those who have promised to support those stations. That pledge can be paid either as a lump sum, or by monthly payments. If you would like to be a member of the TV-56 club, the TV-48 club or the TV-39 club, contact Reta at 1-800-852-8199, and tell her the correct spelling of your name and which station you wish to support. The engraved plate will be added to the appropriate plaque in about two weeks.
